Home Care Treatment means treatment availed by the Insured Person at home for COVID on a positive diagnosis of COVID in a Government-authorized diagnostic Centre, which in normal course would require care and treatment at a hospital but is actually taken at home provided that:
1. The Medical practitioner advises the Insured person to undergo treatment at home.
2. There is a continuous active line of treatment with monitoring of the health status by a medical practitioner for each day through the duration of the home care treatment.
3. Daily monitoring chart including records of treatment administered duly signed by the treating doctor is maintained.

What Is Health Coach And How Would I Be Eligible For Discounts Under This Benefit? - +
Health Coach is an option benefit under GoActiveTMproduct. This benefit is available either to the primary insured person or primary insured person along with his/her spouse (if covered in the policy).
This benefit provides personalised health coaching services through a personal coach connected via a mobile application to guide and motivate you to achieve your health goals. The health coach feature makes you realise that lifestyle plays an important role in maintaining your health and suggests you ways to shift these habits into a positive direction that will improve your overall wellness. In order to get access to the health coach facility, you will have to download the mobile application and register your specified details through the mobile application.
When your registration gets completed, your health coach will notify you through the mobile application to set up an introductory call where you can discuss your short and long term goals with the coach. Once these goals are recorded, the health coach will provide an on-going daily support, motivation and interpretation of your tracking data to help you stay on track and reach your goals. You can constantly be in touch with the health coach to review your progress and revise the existing goals or set new goals.
The mobile application will also keep a track of your steps taken, daily food logs, etc. which can be accessed by you, personal health coach and the empanelled medical practitioners under this benefit. A Health Score will be calculated as per the table below:

The Health score of the primary insured person (higher of the health scores, if both primary insured person and spouse are covered under this benefit) will be considered for calculating the discount in Renewal Base Premium. For the first renewal, the Health Score at the end of nine policy months shall be considered and pro-rated to arrive at the twelve months’ score for calculating the discount in Renewal Base Premium. For subsequent renewals, Health Score for the next twelve policy months from the date of last annual Health Score calculation, will be considered for calculating the discount in Renewal Base Premium
Is A Medical Checkup Necessary Before Buying A Policy? - +
A medical checkup may be necessary when you sign up for a new health insurance policy. However, medical checkups are not usually needed for renewal of policies. It is in your best interests to undergo a medical check-up at the time of enrollment so that when you need us, we‘re there to provide speedy and efficient support and faster settlement of claims.
What All Will Be Included In The Hospitalisation Cover For Corona Kavach Plan? - +
Niva Bupa will cover the medical expenses incurred for hospitalisation of the insured person during the Policy period for the treatment of Covid-19 on positive diagnosis of the condition in a government authorized diagnostic centre including the expenses incurred on treatment of any co-morbidity along with the treatment for Covid-19 up to the Sum Insured specified in the policy schedule, for
a. Room Rent, Boarding, Nursing Expenses as provided by the Hospital/ Nursing Home.
b. Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU) expenses.
c. Surgeon, Anesthetist , Medical Practitioner , Consultants, Specialist Fees whether paid directly to the treating doctor / surgeon or to the hospital
d. Anesthesia, blood, oxygen, operation theatre charges, surgical appliances, ventilator charges, medicines and drugs, costs towards diagnostics, diagnostic imaging modalities, PPE Kit, gloves, mask and such similar other expenses.
e. Road Ambulance subject to a maximum of Rs. 2000/- per hospitalisation for the Ambulance services offered by a Hospital or by an Ambulance service provider, provided that the ambulance is availed only in relation to Covid-19 hospitalisation for which Niva Bupa has accepted a claim under section.
f. This also includes the cost of the transportation of the insured person from a hospital to the another Hospital as prescribed by a Medial Practitioner.
Who Is Eligible To Buy Niva Bupa’s Corona Kavach Plan? - +
Policy can be availed by persons between the age of 18 Years and 65 Years, as Proposer. Proposer age aged more than 65 can obtain a Coronavirus health insurance policy for their family, without covering self. Policy can be availed for self and the following family members
1. Legally wedded spouse
2. Parents & Parents-in-law
3. Dependent Children (i.e natural or legally adopted) between the day 1 of age to 25 years. If the child above 18 years of age is financially independent, they shall be ineligible for Coronavirus health insurance plan.
What Is The Sum Insured Available For Corona Kavach Policy? - +
You can avail coverage from Rs. 50,000/- (Fifty Thousand) to Rs 5,00,000 (Five Lacs) under Niva Bupa’s Corona Kavach plan, a specific health insurance policy for coronavirus treatment.
The policy can be bought on Individual basis where the sum insured shall apply to each individual family member. In family floater plan, sum insured shall apply to the entire family.
What Is The Policy Period For Corona Kavach? - +
Three and half months (3½ months), Six and half months (6½ months), Nine and half months (9½ months) including waiting periods after which this health insurance policy for coronavirus kicks in.
Does Corona Kavach Policy Cover Pre-Existing Diseases? - +
Any co-morbid conditions including pre-existing co-morbid conditions will be covered along with COVID-19 up to Sum Insured under Corona Kavach plan.
What Will Entail Pre-Hospitalisation Medical Expense In Corona Kavach Plan? - +
In this specified health insurance policy for coronavirus, pre-hospitalisation medical expenses means medical expenses incurred during the period of 15 days preceding the hospitalisation/home care treatment of the insured person, provided that:
a. Such medical expenses are incurred for Covid-19 treatment which led to insured person’s hospitalisation/home care treatment
b. The In-patient hospitalisation/home care treatment claim for such hospitalisation/home care treatment is admissible
What Will Entail Post-Hospitalisation Medical Expense In Corona Kavach Plan? - +
Post-hospitalisation medical expenses means medical expenses incurred during the period of 30 days immediately after the insured person is discharged from the hospital/completion of home care treatment provided that:
a. Such Medical Expenses are for Covid-19 which led to the insured person’s hospitalisation
b. The inpatient hospitalisation/home care treatment claim for such hospitalisation/home care treatment is admissible
What Is All Covered Under Ayush Treatments In The Corona Kavach Plan? - +
Medical Expenses incurred for inpatient care treatment for Covid-19 under Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy systems of medicines shall be covered up to sum insured during the tenure of this coronavirus health insurance policy period as specified in the policy schedule.
What Will Be Considered An Ayush Hospital In The Corona Kavach Plan? - +
An AYUSH Hospital is a healthcare facility wherein medical/ surgical/para-surgical treatment procedures and interventions are carried out by AYUSH Medical Practitioner(s) comprising of any of the following :
a. Central or State Government AYUSH Hospital
b. Teaching hospital attached to AYUSH College recognized by the Central Government/Central Council of Indian Medicine/Central Council for Homeopathy; or
c. AYUSH Hospital, standalone or co-located with in-patient healthcare facility of any recognized system of medicine, registered with the local authorities, wherever applicable, and is under the supervision of a qualified registered AYUSH Medical Practitioner and must comply with all the following criterion:
i. Having at least 5 in-patient beds;
ii. Having qualified AYUSH Medical Practitioner in charge round the clock;
iii. Having dedicated AYUSH therapy sections as required and/or has equipped operation theatre where surgical procedures are to be carried out;
iv. Maintaining daily records of the patients and making them accessible to the insurance company ‘s authorized representative
Is Corona Kavach Plan Different From Corona Rakshak Plan? - +
Corona Kavach indemnity plan is a specific health insurance policy for coronavirus treatment, which covers your hospitalisation, pre-hospitalisation, post-hospitalisation, home care treatment, and treatment of co-morbidities. Corona Rakshak is a different, fixed benefit plan where you get lump sum payout on the diagnosis of Covid-19, followed by a fixed tenure of hospitalisation. Niva Bupa doesn’t offer the Corona Rakshak Plan.
